10 Ways Your Customer Newsletter Can Pay For Itself —

I'm often asked how sending a customer newsletter can be a profitable investment for a heating and air conditioning company. A common misconception is that simply sending an email reminder for service or placing phone calls is all that's needed to keep in touch with customers. Those methods are certainly valid, however, when you also send a direct mail newsletter (on a regular basis), you strengthen your customer relationships. So I thought I'd share a list of just 10 benefits of mailing a customer newsletter:

1. Reinforce loyalty. Stay in touch with your customers and they’ll buy more and refer more.
2. Schedule work off season to even out your workload.
3. Generate leads. Advertise special offers to get the phones ringing.
4. Utilize Co-op (if available) and stretch your marketing dollars.
5. Distinguish yourself from competitors who may be targeting your customers.
6. Keep your name top-of-mind with customers and prospects so they don’t go to the yellowpages.com and find a list of your competition.
7. Introduce new products and services. Don’t assume your customers know all that you have to offer.
8. Establish your company as the expert in home comfort.
9. Ask for referrals from your best spokesperson ... a satisfied customer!
10. For the highest ROI, sell to your current customers. Invest in the customers you have at a lower cost than obtaining new ones.
